Why a Weblog?

You’ve probably got only a limited idea of what I do. You may sometimes have seen my activity, on your behalf, in the local media or you might have read one or other of the regular publications we produce; County Matters for Lichfield Rural East and Insight24 for Shenstone and Wall.

But that is only a snapshot and the space available in paper publications and the media is very limited.

Generally, citizens and politicians at all levels of government are drifting further apart from each other. Many people don’t know what we do, particularly in local government, and have no idea whether it offers ‘value’ to those we represent. More and more people feel disengaged from the democratic process because they feel their voice and wishes mean nothing. I’d like to try and demystify some of what I/we do.

Modern technology, like this, allows me the opportunity to give a wider and more up to date idea of what is happening in the local area, the County and, sometimes, Nationally.

It should, I hope, also give you the chance to see what I’m up to, what decisions I’m making, or am involved in making, on your behalf and will be a forum for discussing issues that affect us all.

The key areas which will be updated regularly are my ‘BLOG’ which is a more personal commentary on my activities, and in many cases, my thoughts on issues and also the NEWS RELEASES which are articles appearing in newspapers across Staffordshire.

Some content will be community orientated, some will be news and some will have significant Political content, for which I make no appology. There are many important issues both nationally and locally where different Political positions are very relevant. Despite a decline in democratic participation we should celebrate the freedom of speech we all enjoy and not shy away from debating different viewpoints, Politically or otherwise.
